About

Hi there. I’m Michelle Thomsen.

First, the boring reasons why I’m qualified. (It’s not exciting, but it certainly matters.) I have over 30 years of experience in accounting and management. I earned my BA in Liberal Studies and Business from California State University, East Bay (Hayward). From there, I went on to earn my MBA from San Jose State University. In 2001, I co-founded Soekris Engineering, Inc. and grew the company from nothing to over $6 million in sales within three years.

After the business voluntarily closed in 2017, I started my bookkeeping practice at the suggestion of my CPA. They said the financial statements I provided were always in perfect shape—rare for a business owner.

While all of that is thoroughly practical and mildly interesting, here’s what sets me apart from others in my field. I love bookkeeping.

Yes, I have extensive experience with QuickBooks. I know spreadsheets well enough to make some folks dizzy. But it’s my deep understanding of every aspect of starting, growing, and running a business combined with my genuine love for accounting that makes me different.

As my practice has evolved, I’ve developed expertise in bookkeeping for non-profit organizations. I find this work to be particularly satisfying.

If you’re looking for a bookkeeper who is inexplicably passionate about numbers, we should talk. I look forward to hearing from you about your bookkeeping and business needs.
